Are you living somewhere between “too much” and “too many”?
Modern life is too much stress; too many pressures; too much work; too many wants; too much pain; too many pills. Running at breakneck speed, we are often overwhelmed and under-resourced. The most complex word in the English language just might be “life” your life. Life shouldn’t be this hard; it should be more than a constant pursuit of the next thing. Have you ever wondered What’s missing? It’s not a what, but a Who.
Life wasn’t meant to be a solo performance, it was designed for partnership with God. Imagine a world where life makes sense, where hope never dies, where peace can be found. Imagine a way that works and wisdom that helps. Imagine a power greater than you, working in you and through you. Imagine a fresh start with a best friend, a clear conscience, and a clean heart; a free spirit and no reason to hide. This is the life we were cut out for. This is the life God offers to all who search for Him.
Most people believe in a Creator, but have no relationship with Him. That missing relationship is the missing link, and God has taken drastic measures to fix it. Because He loves us, God sent His only Son Jesus to earth to save us from our sins and give us eternal life (John 3:16). The life He offers is a costly gift. Jesus died for us. Here’s the key: We don’t have to die for our sins to earn God’s love. He died for us because of love that defies all logic.
Now God offers forgiveness of sins and rest from the weariness of life to all who ask, We’re talking about more than a good night’s sleep and a few days off–we’re talking about peace down deep inside.
How can we find it? First, we need to accept the fact that we all need help (Romans 3:23). Then we need to confess and forsake our sins and accept the forgiveness He offers through Jesus. He will grant that forgiveness absolutely!
(1 John 1:9) Except for Jesus, there is no other way we can know God or receive His awesome power for living (John 14:6).
We all struggle to change even minor things about ourselves. But when we forsake our sins, believe and confess that Jesus is Lord, He changes us at the very core of our being. The Bible put it this way: “Therefore, If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). It’s a whole new life, overflowing with potential because God has unlimited power to be released in us and through us. We know our limitations, but when we come to Him we find that nothing is too hard for God. In a life often measured by “too much’ and “too many,” we can have the peace of settled soul.
Living without God is like spending your whole life in a one-room apartment. Life with God is infinitely more than you’ve ever imagined, and it’s yours just for the asking. Here’s a suggestion of how to pray to get you started, but only pray if you’re really serious about putting God first and foremost in your life.
Dear Jesus, I realize I need Your help to deal with my sins and make life work. I believe you are the only way to God, so I come to You. I admit I am a sinner. I’m sorry for all the wrong I’ve done and I want to change my way of living and serve you as Lord of my life from now on. Please forgive me of my sins and come into my life. You are my God, and I am now completely yours.
If you’ve determined to forsake your sinful ways, confessed that Jesus is the Lord of your life and prayed for God’s mercy and grace, you can be sure of God’s forgiveness and a brand new start to your life.
“If we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). For more discussion on this subject click the following link: FollowChrist.ag.org
